Xanga? What Xanga?

So I haven't posted in a really long time... as in, three weeks or so. It feels weird. But I don't really miss it. I've had this blog since fall of my senior year of high school. Three years is a long stinkin' time.

Let me explain: When I started this thing, Mary Beth, Laura and I were in the planning stages of our London trip, I was in three AP classes (including Calc-- what was I thinking?), had just handed in my application for North Park, and had to roll out of bed for class every morning to start school at 7:30am.

Fast forward to today: I got up for class at 8:45 today (and this is early), went to class, chapel, another class, and baked cupcakes. None of this "School from 7:30 am - 2:30pm" business. Instead of applying to North Park, I am one of the supervisors of those people who call prospective students like the 18-year-old edition of me. And I laugh at how difficult it was for me and Mary Beth and Laura to get permission from our parents to spend a week abroad by ourselves, even with the compromise of promising up and down that we would STAY in London, and not go globe-trotting by taking the chunnel to Paris or anything. Now I've spent a whole semester globetrotting, a semester that is slowly becoming more and more ancient history.

I don't know what the point of me writing this is, except to say that it's amazing what three years can do. Seriously. A lot of things have stayed the same in my life, but when I think about all that's changed... and the people in my life who have come and gone, it's amazing. And it makes me kind of wonder if I'll be writing a similar entry in another three years.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Stina's Xanga

Today has been crazy busy so far... but I am finally getting a chance to sit and get some odds and ends done. I'm finishing the final decoration touches on my apartment. It's pretty sweet.

Hmm. Perhaps Xanga has lost its interest factor... I'd much rather be talking to you guys in person than having a one-sided convo on Xanga... give me a call or swing by. I'd love to spend some quality time with you guys in person.

21 big ones

So, it's my birthday... and I thought that by this point in my college career that people would remember when it was. But I guess that Facebook is the only thing that reminds people of birthdays anymore. (Please note that I did go to Tre Kronor to celebrate this morning with Kathy and Jason, which was great. And my parents came into the restaurant to surprise me with strawberry shortcake to share with my friends for later. So that was fun.)

Maybe it's because I didn't wear my signature "It's my birthday!" nametag, as I have each year since I turned 15. Historically, this has been a good conversation starter since my birthday always falls at the very beginning of the school year, when I'm either starting at a new school, studying abroad and don't know many people well, or don't have all my friends back on campus to celebrate.

I've spent nearly the last twelve hours scrapbooking. It's been a good day. I've made lots of progress, and have scrapbooked all the way up through most of the trip to Greece. But that still leaves half of the semester to go...

I had breakfast with Steve this morning at Bakers Square, and then later I got to see his new apartment. Kathy and I will have slightly more furniture, since we're girls and don't pack as light. I can't believe that I move in tomorrow! It's going to be great...

Ah, North Park. How I love thee.

Camp is over, which explains why I have time to update this thing. One of the kids this past week wrote on his Friday night camp evaluation form that camp was the "shizz-nit".

I have been back in Chicago for less than 24 hours, and I've already been back over to North Park. Funny how that goes, huh? And I parked in front of Burgh Hall without having my car sideswiped by intoxicated gang members... anybody who was at NPU last semester knows what I'm talking about... Anyway, I made brownies at Walt's apartment yesterday and managed not to burn it down. And then we called Johan for some assistance in eating the aforementioned brownies.

It's weird to think that I will be moving into my new apartment on Saturday... I suppose I should use the adjective "new" sparingly, as the Kedzie 2's are nothing but new... I hear that Sawyer Court has A/C and that it looks like a freaking hotel. Sawyer Court can keep their A/C, since one awesome thing they DON'T have is Kathy Damhorst, my lovely future roommate. And they don't have an RA with whom I can practice my Swedish skillz.

So is anybody besides me extremely excited that Judy Peterson is our new interim college pastor? I found out from my dad yesterday and I almost peed myself, it was so excited. It sounded like at the end of the school year, we didn't know who was going to fill in for Rev Alise's old position, so this is exciting news.

Alright, it's off to finish buying scrapbooking supplies so I can stay occupied this week...
